Error correction flowchart

1Stop immediately at the error.

2Point to the missed letter: 'This sound is /a/.'

3'Say it with me.' Blend together.

4'Your turn.' Student re-blends independently.

5Return to the start of the line.

6Return to that student within 2 turns for a repeat attempt.

Caregiver bridge (plain English)

Your child is learning to blend sounds into words, like m-a-t into 'mat'.

Read the list together for 5 minutes. Let them say each sound, then the word.

If they get stuck, say the sound for them and have them try again. Don't guess from pictures.
